Doctors Without Borders

Doctors Without Borders is a humanitarian organization providing essential medical care in 70+ countries around the world. As the digital agency of record, Blue State develops fundraising, awareness, and emergency response campaigns across email, SMS, video, and more. From joining the account in 2021 to becoming the lead designer, I have worked to create inspiring, persuasive, and award-winning creative across all types of media.

This gallery shows a selection of recent graphics created for MSF's email marketing program. MSF's brand relies largely on dark backgrounds, textured overlays and torn edges, and high-impact elements set in red. On a high-volume program like this, I look for opportunities to push creative, such as introducing elements like the pop-art cartoon style used in the first graphic, or the watch dial elements that became a pillar of our end of year giving campaign. Often, these copy-heavy emails benefit from editorial-style visual organization, such as clean line work and tone-on-tone color blocking.

As part of MSF end of year giving campaign, they wanted to highlight charitable giving through Donor-Advised Funds, so we created this explainer video. I worked with a writer and creative director to help draft visual direction for the script, after which point, I was the sole designer and editor for storyboards and animating the video.

MSF creates an annual impact report to share with their major gifts audience segment. I created this 4-page report, prioritizing organization and ability to be scanned for important information.

During MSF's end of year campaign, we created an interactive I-Spy- style game to engage audiences and teach them about the impact their gift could have in a more unique format. Leveraging custom illustrated elements and integrating them with additional stock assets to stay on time and on budget, I created an illustrated graphic with medical supplies scattered around for audiences to discover. The frames below show screenshots of the illustration in-situ.
